Jaguar XJS-C Burberry Special Edition

£16,995

One of only 2 or 3 special editions made

According to the International Jaguar XJ-SC Register, chassis 116005 is one of just fifteen examples which were factory finished in Silver Sand Metallic. Furthermore, we believe it to be one of only two cars that were acquired by Burberry for use in their period marketing (though, some sources suggest there were three).

The traditional leather and walnut interiors is augmented by Burberry’s iconic check fabric

The accompanying service book even  includes a stamp from Burberrys Ltd in March 1987 at 3,986 miles and the two-seater had only covered 30,000 miles by the time its last (fourth) register keeper took possession from HR Owen Jaguar during May 1997. Re-registered with a JAG number plate the following year, the XJ-SC was laid-up in 2005.

Seven years teh car was donated to a charity who in turn tasked the Basingstoke College of Technology’s Automotive department with restoring it prior to a sale. Renowned XJ-S specialist KWE identified a list of necessary works which were then undertaken by BCoT’s staff and students. As well as a complete respray, the rear axle assembly refurbished, rear brakes replaced, front upper ball joints / coil springs renewed and Targa panels restitched. It also benefited from a new rear Perspex window, fresh centre console wood trim, replacement rear bumper and ignition system overhaul (new distributor cap, rotor arm and HT leads) not to mention new cooling hoses and drive belts etc. Harwoods Jaguar kindly contributing various new parts and access to specialist tools, the project was completed in 2015. Sparingly used over the past six years it now shows some 66,000 miles to its odometer. Highly presentable but not concours, this special Jaguar has a fresh MOT certificate. Accompanying paperwork includes a book pack, assorted MOTs dating back to June 1993. The MOT history shows no change for 4 years but previous history indicate the currnet mileage to be correct.

Importanatly there is photographic log of the restoration, part stamped service book, various bills, last full service at 56,777 miles and an oils service will  now be undertaken

Marcos Mantara Spyder 3.9i

£17,750

A very rare English sportscar

Certainly a head-turner

In 1992, the Marcos Mantara was introduced as a factory-made model – a further extension of the original GT styling but on steroids. Powered by Rover V8 3.9 EFI engine. The Mantara ended up campaigning in GT racing, with the ultimate version the LM600

The Mantara incorporated a McPherson strut damper, coil spring and anti roll bar based on a Ford system and makes for a more pleasurable driving experience, plus the Mantara was the first Marcos with power-assisted steering.

This 1994 model has had a small number of owners, the last reluctantly making way for another vehicle. The car has been well looked after see following service history which is all Marcos specialists and will include a new service. A new hood has been recently fitted and the radiator has been upgraded. The car has an Alpine stereo and as the original bill of sale shows was fitted with options of leather, power steering. 13″ steering wheel, alarm immobiliser, headlamp covers, and icebox for future A/C

Service history

The car is not Concours as the price reflects but is a clean and tidy example, finish in a largely unmarked Bugatti blue bodyshell, with a light tan interior which shows patina, the wood is in good condition and the car drives well. Currently MOT’d until February 2022, and supplied with previous MOTs which indicates that some welding has been done.
